Your home should be functional for how you actually live, and still be beautiful, to you. I do not believe you have to choose between the two, because what feels good on the eye feels good in the heart and mind.

That is why I listen before I do anything else. Before the mood boards, before the colour palettes, before any decisions are made. I need to understand how you live, what you love, and what matters to you, before I can begin to design. The best work does not come from a designer imposing their taste. It comes from really hearing someone and knowing what to do with what you hear.
